1. Introduction

This document is a quick reference guide on setting up a Techila Distributed Computing Engine (TDCE) environment using a virtualized Techila Server (a.k.a. Techila Virtual Server) and getting started with using TDCE.

If you are unfamiliar with the terminology or theory on how the TDCE system functions, please refer to the Introduction to Techila Distributed Computing Engine document for more information.

Documents referred to in this guide can be found here:

2. Setting up the Techila Virtual Server

2.1. Download Techila Virtual Server Installation Components

Download "Techila Virtual Server software image" from the URL given by Techila support staff.

2.2. Obtain Techila License File

Techila Virtual Server requires a valid Techila License for product activation. Please make sure you have a Techila License available before proceeding. Techila License required on activation can be obtained from Techila Technologies. If you have not received a Techila License, please contact Techila Technologies at info@techilatechnologies.com.

3. Install the Techila Virtual Server

Install Techila Virtual Server following the steps described in:

4. Activate the Techila Virtual Server

Transfer and approve the Techila License on your Techila Virtual Server as described in:

5. Setting up Techila Workers

5.1. Download the Techila Worker Installation Packages

Download Techila Worker software installation packages for the platforms you wish to include in your Techila Distributed Computing Engine (TDCE) environment.

Techila Worker software installation packages can be downloaded from URLs given by Techila support staff.

5.2. Add Techila Workers

Install Techila Worker software on the resources you wish to include in your TDCE environment following the steps described in the following document:

6. Test the Techila Distributed Computing Engine Environment

6.1. Create a Test End-User

Now, your Techila Distributed Computing Engine (TDCE) environment is functionally complete. Before proceeding with creating actual user accounts, it is good to verify the functionality of the Techila system using a test user account.

Add a new Techila End-User by following steps described in:

6.3. Create End-Users

After testing that the system works by running a computational Project, you can continue by adding more End-Users to your TDCE environment following steps described in:

7. Complete the Environment for Project Use

Before your End-Users start using the Techila Distributed Computing Engine (TDCE) environment in their Projects, the Techila Server needs to be furnished with necessary Runtime Bundles. Furnishing the Techila Server with Runtime Bundles is described in:

8. Questions and Troubleshooting
